Spring Safari: alternative plans this year
Instead of a formal spring safari, V. Paul Reynolds has suggested that members meet up at the Big Eddy in June this year. Here are Paul’s thoughts:
Diane and I will be at the Big Eddy campground on the West Branch of the Penobscot River from June 13-17. It's a great spot with flowing water, solitude and wicked caddis hatches for salmon and trout.
You need to make reservations early. They have tent sites, RV sites and a few rustic cabins; the prices are reasonable.
One caveat is the Golden Road from Ambejesus Lake to the Telos Bridge. It is not for the faint of heart. But once there, it's a piece of heaven.
Google Big Eddy campground and the Chewonki site for reservations. Tom and Pat Fuller will be there the next week.
